To ensure smooth functioning, safety and proper care, patients are expected to follow a set of protocols while visiting the hospital. These protocols may vary slightly from hospital to hospital, but generally remain the same so that the patients are comfortable while visiting.
1. Seek/ Book an Appointment (if possible):
- Schedule your visit in advance through phone, website, or app.
- Emergency cases can walk in without an appointment
2. Ensure Availability of the Concerned Doctor:
- Confirm the timings
- Make sure of the speciality
3. Carry Identification & Documents:
- Bring a valid ID (adhaar, driving licence),
- Health insurance card (in case of TPA or availing any other insurance)
- Referral letters (if any from another doctor or referring person)
- Previous medical records and prescriptions
4. Patient Should be accompanied by a responsible Attendant (preferably an adult):
- The attendant should have knowledge of your problem
- The attendant should know which doctor you are visiting
- Number of attendants should be limited to 1 or 2 only
5. On Arrival:
- At the Reception: Register or confirm your appointment
- Mention the name of the specialist you wish to consult
- Ask for the concerned specialist in case you do not know the name
- Provide required documents or related details when requested
- Ask for help (in case required): a wheel chair/ hospital attendant/ stretcher.
6. Follow Instructions:
- Hospital may have specific floors or areas for OPDs, Diagnostics, Billing -follow directions or ask for help
- Ask for the waiting area of the department you wish to visit.
7. Wait in the specific waiting area:
- Submit your receipt or token the OPD attendant and ask for the que number.
- Wait for your name or token number to be called.
- Please be patient as some patients' take more time than others and the waiting time may exceed expectations.
- Please do not get aggressive or abusive in case the doctor is attending to an emergency or a prior patient is taking more time than expected.
8. Wear a Mask (if required):
- Especially if you have respiratory symptoms, like coughing, sneezing, running nose etc.
- In case you are susceptible to infections or have a low immunity.
9. Be Honest and Clear with the Specialist:
- Give accurate and complete information about your symptoms, lifestyle and health history.
- Answer all questions honestly and do not hide information.
- Show all your previous prescriptions and diagnostic reports.
- Ask related questions only.
- Be attentive and ask for clarification to avoid confusion.
- Clarify doubts about medication, treatment or follow up.
10. Respect the Time Slot:
- Reach 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.
- Keep your discussion focused and efficient to help the doctor and other patients.
- Remember there are other patients waiting for their turn hence be quick and to the point.
- Be respectful at all times.
11. Post Appointment Follow Prescriptions and Tests:
- Get medicines as prescribed & follow the dosage properly.
- Get all the diagnostic tests or scans done as prescribed.
- Show the reports to the specialist (as advised) and follow the change in medication (if any).
12. Schedule Follow-ups if Needed:
- Book your next visit (if advised).
- Be sure of the availability of the doctor on your scheduled follow up.
- Discuss the convenience of your visit with the specialist (in case of out of station patient).
13. Keep Receipts of all Payments:
- Settle all bills before leaving.
- Keep all records safely & properly.
- Maintain a file of all documents.
- Medical bills of the pharmacy, diagnostics, registration & any procedure should be kept safely.
14. Feedback of Services:
- Please give genuine feedback of the services, if requested.
- Do let us know in case there is something which is lacking & we can improve upon it.
- Please be polite in case something is not up to your expectations.
